Chicago, IL – Wildfire smoke drifting from the west is expected to continue affecting the Chicago area, bringing hazy skies and mild temperatures throughout the weekend. The smoke will cause haziness, particularly on Thursday and Friday, with chances of rain remaining low.
According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, nighttime temperatures will drop into the 50s and 60s. Daytime highs will reach the low to mid-80s, with slightly cooler conditions near Lake Michigan. Friday offers a slight chance of rain, mainly south of I-80.
Heading into the weekend, Saturday and Sunday will remain partly cloudy with low chances of showers. Highs will hover between 80-84 degrees, with cooler nights and mild daytime conditions expected to continue through Sunday.
Residents are advised to remain cautious of the smoke, especially those with respiratory issues. Though the smoke is aloft, it may impact air quality at times. Rainfall is unlikely to alleviate dry conditions across the region, despite brief chances of precipitation this weekend.
