Wheaton, IL – A DuPage County jury found Richard Goodwin, 59, of Glendale Heights, guilty of the 2021 murder of Marek Krywko. The verdict came after a four-day trial and 16 hours of deliberations. Goodwin was convicted of first-degree murder and aggravated battery.

According to DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin, Goodwin shot Krywko during a marijuana purchase on Pebblebeach Drive in Hanover Park. On August 2, 2021, police responded to a shooting call and found Krywko with a gunshot wound to his femoral artery. He died shortly after. Investigators discovered that Goodwin, accompanied by two women, shot Krywko after receiving a bottle of water.

Goodwin was arrested weeks later on August 25, 2021, and held on a $500,000 bond. Prosecutors commended law enforcement for their role in securing justice.

“This verdict ensures accountability for a senseless act of violence,” said Berlin. Goodwin faces sentencing on March 4.

Authorities praised the Hanover Park Police and DuPage M.E.R.I.T. for their assistance in the case.
