Green Bay, WI – A frigid night is in store for Wisconsin as temperatures plunge into the single digits away from lakeshore areas Thursday night. Wind chill values in the coldest spots could dip below zero early Friday morning, creating hazardous conditions for residents venturing outdoors.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, the sharp drop in temperatures follows the end of light snow in the northern parts of the state, with highs today barely reaching the 20s. Tonight, areas such as Rhinelander and Land O’ Lakes are expected to feel the worst of the cold, with actual temperatures around 6°F and wind chills well below zero. Green Bay will see slightly milder conditions but still cold, with lows around 13°F.
Residents should dress in layers, limit time outdoors, and ensure pets are sheltered. Those traveling, especially in Vilas County, should exercise caution as icy roads and sidewalks remain a concern through Thursday morning.
Friday’s forecast brings mostly cloudy skies, with daytime highs near 26°F but persistent wind chills making it feel much colder. Conditions improve slightly over the weekend, with highs climbing into the mid-30s on Saturday and the mid-40s on Sunday. Rain may move in after sunset Sunday, continuing into Monday.
