Green Bay, Wisconsin – Outdoor plans across northeast and eastern Wisconsin have a good chance of staying dry today, but residents should prepare for a return of scattered showers and thunderstorms beginning Friday. While severe weather is not expected, periods of rain could affect travel and outdoor activities through Saturday before drier air arrives to close out the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, temperatures today will climb into the 84 to 91 degree range under mostly tranquil conditions. A slight 20 to 40 percent chance of showers will be confined mainly to areas north of Highway 29, including portions of north-central Wisconsin, while Green Bay, Appleton, Oshkosh, and much of the Fox Valley remain largely dry.
Shower and thunderstorm chances become more widespread Friday as highs cool to 74 to 80 degrees. Forecasters emphasize that severe storms are not expected, but brief downpours and lightning could interrupt outdoor events and slow travel along Interstates 41 and 43, as well as U.S. Highways 29 and 141.
Rain chances continue into Saturday, especially across eastern Wisconsin, with highs ranging from 78 to 85 degrees. Scattered showers remain possible, although coverage is expected to be limited to around 20 to 30 percent.
By Sunday, sunshine returns with pleasant humidity levels and afternoon temperatures between 77 and 84 degrees, providing favorable conditions for travel, boating, and outdoor recreation across the region.
Residents should keep an umbrella handy Friday and Saturday, but widespread hazardous weather is not anticipated. Additional forecast updates may be issued if rain coverage changes heading into the weekend.
