Frankfort, IL – April 17, 2025 – The highly anticipated “Get Hooked on Frankfort” Fishing Derby is set to take place a month earlier this year, scheduled for Saturday, May 17 at Prairie Park in downtown Frankfort. The change in date is expected to offer better weather conditions for young anglers to enjoy the community event.
This family-friendly catch-and-release fishing event is open to children ages 3 to 12. Participants can expect a day filled with friendly competition, fresh air, and, of course, a few fish stories. The derby will be divided into two age brackets: ages 3-7 will fish from 8:00 AM to 8:45 AM, with check-in at 7:30 AM, while children ages 8-12 will take their turn from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM, with check-in starting at 8:30 AM.
According to the Village of Frankfort, registration for the event is $10 for residents and $15 for non-residents. The fee includes a t-shirt, snack, drink, bait, and a fishing hook. However, participants must bring their own fishing pole to the event.
Space for the event is limited, so the Village encourages early registration by the deadline on Thursday, May 15. The fishing derby will be held rain or shine, and organizers are confident that participants will have a “REEL” good time.
