Atlanta, GA – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for North Georgia from 1 a.m. Wednesday to 1 a.m. Thursday, with snowfall expected to impact travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, light snowfall of around half an inch is expected across the region, with higher elevations above 2,500 feetpotentially receiving up to an inch. The advisory covers Dade, Walker, Catoosa, Whitfield, Murray, Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Chattooga, Gordon, Pickens, Dawson, Lumpkin, White, and Floyd counties, including cities such as Dalton, Rome, Ellijay, and Blue Ridge.
The snowfall could create slippery roads, especially during the Wednesday morning and evening commutes. Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution while traveling.
The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) advises checking 511 for the latest road conditions. Motorists should allow extra time for travel and be prepared for potential delays.
This marks one of the first significant snowfall events of the season in North Georgia. Residents in higher elevations should be prepared for slightly heavier accumulations and colder conditions overnight.
More updates will follow as the system moves through the area.
