Atlanta, GA – Georgia residents should prepare for an intense heatwave starting Monday, with temperatures expected to climb steadily throughout the week. According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Peachtree City, temperatures will trend upward, potentially breaking long-standing records by midweek.

The forecast shows Monday kicking off the heatwave with a high of 91°F, well above seasonal averages. This warming trend continues into Tuesday and Wednesday, with temperatures predicted to reach 92°F and 94°F, respectively. By Wednesday and Thursday, Peachtree City could see highs near 98°F, approaching or potentially tying daily records set in previous decades.

The NWS highlights that the likelihood of record-breaking temperatures is highest on Wednesday and Thursday, with a 38% and 47% chance, respectively. This extreme heat could lead to heat advisories, as temperatures are expected to be 10 to 15 degrees above normal.

Residents are advised to take precautions, especially on Wednesday and Thursday, when the heat will be most intense. Staying hydrated, limiting outdoor activities, and checking on vulnerable individuals are crucial during this period.

As the week progresses, temperatures will slightly taper off but remain in the mid-90s, keeping the region under the influence of this significant heatwave.
