Atlanta, GA – Subfreezing temperatures and light snow continue to grip the Atlanta area under a Winter Weather Advisory, with icy conditions expected into Wednesday morning. Snow showers are likely Tuesday evening, followed by clearing skies overnight. Drivers should remain cautious on roads, including major highways like I-85 and I-75, as slick spots may develop.
According to the National Weather Service, snow showers are forecast through 7 p.m., with a low of 15 degrees tonight. Gusty winds of up to 15 mph will intensify the chill. Any lingering snow is expected to leave less than half an inch of accumulation, but the extreme cold could freeze untreated surfaces.
Wednesday offers a welcome break from snow, with sunshine and a high near 36 degrees. While temperatures remain below freezing tonight, calm winds on Wednesday night will lead to a low of 21.
Thursday brings partly sunny skies and a high of 40 degrees, the first above-freezing day in several days. Lows will dip into the mid-20s overnight, but Friday continues the warming trend, with mostly sunny skies and a high of 42. The upcoming weekend looks promising, with highs reaching 47 degrees Saturday, offering relief from the current cold snap.
Residents are advised to bundle up during evening commutes and limit time outdoors tonight. Road crews continue to monitor conditions, but drivers should remain vigilant, especially on bridges and overpasses.
