Philadelphia, PA – Residents across Pennsylvania are enduring dangerously cold conditions as temperatures hover around 18°F tonight, with wind chills making it feel even colder. A warming trend is expected later this week, but frigid conditions will persist for the next few days.

According to the National Weather Service, a Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect through Wednesday morning, with lows plunging to 9°F overnight. Wind chill values could drop as low as -2°F, posing risks of frostbite for those outdoors for prolonged periods. Officials urge residents to limit outdoor activities, wear layers, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

The cold snap will hold through Wednesday, with highs reaching just 19°F under sunny skies. However, relief is on the horizon, with temperatures gradually increasing starting Thursday. The high for Thursday is forecasted at 28°F, and by Friday, the mercury will climb to 32°F, marking the first time this week temperatures approach freezing.

Saturday brings further relief, with sunny skies and a high of 34°F—a welcome reprieve for those battling the polar vortex. Nighttime temperatures will remain cold, dropping to the teens, so heating systems should continue running at full capacity.

Drivers should exercise caution as icy patches may form on untreated roadways, including I-76 and Roosevelt Boulevard. Pedestrians are also advised to watch for slick sidewalks.

Stay tuned for further updates and prepare for a gradual warm-up into the weekend.
