Tucker, GA – Hormel Foods Corporation has issued a nationwide recall of over 250,000 pounds of its Dinty Moore Beef Stew after foreign matter, specifically wood, was allegedly found in some cans.

According to a May 28 announcement by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the recall affects 20-oz. metal cans of “Dinty Moore BEEF STEW” with a “BEST BY FEB 2028” date and the lot code “T02045.” These products were produced on February 4 and shipped nationwide. The affected cans carry the establishment number “EST 199G.”

The issue was brought to light after FSIS received three consumer complaints about finding pieces of wood inside the product. While no injuries have been confirmed, consumers who believe they may have been affected are encouraged to contact a healthcare provider.

FSIS warned that some of the recalled stew may still be in home pantries. Anyone who purchased the product is urged not to consume it and should throw it away or return it to the place of purchase.

Hormel and FSIS emphasized the importance of removing the affected cans from circulation. FSIS will continue conducting recall effectiveness checks and will post any updated retail distribution lists to its website.

Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Hormel Foods at 800-523-4635 or email media@hormel.com. Food safety inquiries can be directed to the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-MPHotline or submitted through the FSIS complaint portal.
