Gaines Township, Mich. – An early morning shooting near East Kentwood High School prompted an increased police presence on campus today.

Deputies from the Kent County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) responded to reports of gunfire near 60th St. and Kalamazoo Ave. at 3:30 AM. Shell casings were found outside a residence on Campus Park Dr., less than a mile from the school. No injuries were reported, and investigators are still determining the motive.

In response, the KCSO is working closely with East Kentwood Public Schools to enhance security. School resource officers will be on campus throughout the day, offering reassurance to students and staff.
