Jackson, Wyo. – Temperatures are expected to plunge into the low 20s across western Wyoming overnight Sunday, with a Freeze Warning now in effect from midnight to 8 a.m. Monday for Jackson Hole, Star Valley, and surrounding areas.
According to the National Weather Service in Riverton, low temperatures will range from 26°F to 30°F, with the coldest readings near Bondurant dipping to 23°F. The warning includes South Lincoln County, the Upper Green River Basin, and nearby foothills — impacting cities such as Jackson, Afton, Kemmerer, Pinedale, and Cokeville.
Sensitive vegetation and unprotected outdoor plumbing are especially vulnerable. Gardeners in Alpine and Star Valley Ranch are urged to cover plants or bring them inside. Residents in rural areas should check irrigation lines and hose connections to prevent freezing damage.
While June freezes are rare, they’re not unheard of in higher elevations. This could mark one of the coldest late-June mornings in the region since 2020.
The warning expires at 8 a.m. Monday, but cooler-than-average temperatures are expected to continue into early next week.
