Clinton County, IN – A high-speed chase on State Road 28 early Tuesday morning ended in tragedy, leaving one person dead and a juvenile injured. The incident occurred just before 2:40 a.m. when Frankfort Police attempted to stop a 2004 Dodge Durango suspected of reckless driving near the Walmart on State Road 28 in Frankfort.
According to preliminary findings by Trooper Schroder, the driver fled eastbound on State Road 28 after refusing to comply with the officer’s attempt to initiate a traffic stop. The pursuit continued, but the Durango veered off the road near County Road 250 East, overcorrected, and ultimately crashed after rolling over multiple times.
Despite emergency personnel’s efforts, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene by the Clinton County Coroner. The driver’s identity is currently withheld pending notification of next of kin. A juvenile passenger was airlifted to an Indianapolis-area hospital by medical helicopter.
