Winston-Salem, NC – An early-morning homicide in Walkertown has left a 16-year-old dead, prompting an ongoing investigation by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 5:55 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2026, to a home in the 4700 block of New Walkertown Road, located in Forsyth County near the Winston-Salem metro area. When deputies arrived alongside EMS, they discovered a juvenile and a canine suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both the teen and the dog were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the identity of the victim due to age.

The Sheriff’s Office said its Investigative Services Division has taken over the case, which remains open and active. Officials have not announced any suspects or arrests as of Saturday afternoon.

Sheriff Bobby F. Kimbrough Jr. described the case as deeply troubling, noting the impact of violence involving young victims. District Attorney Jim O’Neill also addressed the incident, calling it another example of rising juvenile violence affecting the community.
