Fond du Lac County, WI – Investigators have uncovered potential evidence while executing a search warrant in the decades-old disappearance of Robert “Bobby Jo” Fritz, a Wisconsin boy who vanished more than 43 years ago.
According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, detectives executed a search warrant on Thursday, July 16, at a home in the Village of Campbellsport where Bobby Jo lived at the time of his disappearance on May 14, 1983.
Sheriff Ryan F. Waldschmidt said investigators located potential evidence during the search. As a result, a large-scale excavation is now underway in the basement of the home.
According to the sheriff’s office, detectives are working alongside the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation and the State Crime Laboratory to identify, collect, and process any additional evidence that may be recovered during the excavation.
Authorities emphasized that the investigation remains active and that no further details about the evidence will be released at this time to protect the integrity of the case.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office said it remains committed to resolving Bobby Jo’s disappearance and providing answers to his family.
