Tampa, Florida – Dangerous heat and scattered thunderstorms could disrupt outdoor plans across Tampa Bay on Wednesday, with heat indices climbing as high as 107 degrees by late afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Tampa Bay, partly to mostly cloudy skies will dominate the region today, accompanied by scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms. Highs will range from the upper 80s to lower 90s, but humidity will drive real-feel temperatures well into the triple digits.
Localized downpours and lightning could affect parts of Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Pasco counties, particularly during the peak heating hours between 2 and 6 p.m. Winds from the southeast at 5 to 10 mph may offer minimal relief. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activities, stay hydrated, and monitor for lightning strikes—especially in open areas or near water.
This early summer heat is more typical of July conditions, prompting extra caution for vulnerable groups, including children, outdoor workers, and pets.
Storms are expected to taper off into the evening, but heat and humidity will persist overnight. Further updates or advisories may be issued if storm coverage increases or wind gusts intensify.
