Caribou, Maine – A round of showers and thunderstorms could develop across northern Maine late Wednesday night into Thursday, with the best chances near Caribou, Presque Isle, and Frenchville.
According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, a cold front sweeping across the region is expected to trigger scattered storms, mainly after midnight tonight. Thunderstorm probabilities climb to 55% in Presque Isle and 50% in Caribou by mid-morning Thursday. Rain chances taper off by late Thursday, but cooler air will settle in through Saturday.
Communities from Millinocket to Greenville may remain dry tonight, but isolated sprinkles can’t be ruled out. Saturday brings another chance of rain—especially Downeast in towns like Bar Harbor and Eastport—but forecast confidence remains low. If showers develop, they could impact weekend travel along Route 1 and coastal areas.
Residents in northern Aroostook County should prepare for slick roads and brief downpours early Thursday. Drivers are urged to use caution during the morning commute and secure outdoor items as gusty breezes may accompany the storms.
Storm chances diminish Thursday night, but temperatures will stay cooler into the weekend. Stay tuned for updates if Saturday’s Downeast rain threat becomes more certain.
