Buffalo, NY – Buffalo to Jamestown residents should brace for a soggy start to the weekend as rain chances climb to 70% by early Saturday, accompanied by cooler daytime temperatures dipping into the 60s across much of western New York.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, the region will stay mostly dry and breezy through Wednesday, but moisture will gradually build into the area by late Thursday. Rain probabilities rise sharply Friday evening, with widespread showers likely across cities including Rochester, Olean, and Dunkirk overnight into Saturday.

High temperatures will also trend downward. After peaking in the upper 70s on Thursday, Buffalo and surrounding areas like Batavia and Canandaigua will struggle to reach the low 70s by Saturday, with overnight lows dropping into the 50s. Rochester, which is forecast to reach 80°F on Wednesday, will see highs fall to the upper 60s by the weekend.

The heaviest rainfall is expected Saturday morning through early afternoon. Lowville, Wellsville, and Springville may see up to a 75% chance of rain, prompting concerns for localized flooding on rural roads. Drivers should use caution during early travel hours and avoid low-lying areas prone to pooling water.

Rain chances taper slightly by Sunday but remain elevated at 30%–45% across the region. Another update will be issued Friday as models better resolve the timing and intensity of rainfall.
