Miami, FL – A dense fog advisory is in effect for South Florida waters until 11 a.m. Sunday, with warnings extended to Tampa Bay and nearby regions. The National Weather Service has also issued a Small Craft Advisory until 4 p.m. Monday for areas along Florida’s Gulf Coast.

According to the National Weather Service, visibility on the water is reduced to less than one nautical mile between Chokoloskee and Bonita Beach. Mariners are urged to navigate cautiously, using fog signals, radar, and running lights. Inland, dense fog is affecting drivers in Glades, Hendry, and Collier counties, with visibility reduced to a quarter-mile or less until 10 a.m.

Hazardous conditions extend into Tampa Bay, where winds are expected to shift from 20-knot gusts to northward winds of 25 knots by Sunday afternoon. Mariners are advised to avoid the waters if inexperienced, as waves are expected to remain choppy through Monday.

Drivers in affected counties should reduce speed and increase distance between vehicles. For mariners, conditions are expected to improve after mid-morning but may remain dangerous for small craft until Monday.
