Trenton, NJ – A winter storm warning remains in effect for Mercer and Somerset counties, with heavy snowfall expected this afternoon into the early hours of Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, snow will begin around 1 p.m. Sunday and continue until 1 a.m. Monday. Accumulations between 4 and 7 inches are forecasted, with snowfall rates reaching an inch per hour at times.

Blowing snow may significantly reduce visibility, creating hazardous travel conditions. Temperatures are expected to fall well below freezing Sunday night and remain there for several days, leading to icy and slippery roads even after the storm ends.

Residents in Trenton, Somerville, and surrounding areas are urged to prepare for challenging travel conditions. The New Jersey Department of Transportation advises drivers to limit non-essential travel and equip vehicles with emergency supplies, including a flashlight, food, and water.

Temperatures dropping below freezing overnight may exacerbate road conditions, especially in untreated areas. Residents are encouraged to monitor local weather updates and stay informed through New Jersey’s 511 road condition hotline.

For those venturing out, extra caution is advised.
