Melbourne, Fla. – Warm, sunny skies will dominate East Central Florida today, but beachgoers should stay alert: a moderate risk for rip currents remains in effect along the coast through this evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, inland temperatures will peak in the mid to upper 80s, with Leesburg expected to hit 88°F and Sanford 84°F. Coastal cities like Daytona Beach and Port St. Lucie will see slightly cooler highs near 79°F to 81°F. Rain chances remain at 0% across the region, making for dry and breezy conditions ideal for outdoor plans—aside from surf hazards.
Cities including Vero Beach, Melbourne, and Cocoa Beach are under the rip current advisory. Swimmers are urged to stay near lifeguards and avoid venturing into unguarded waters, especially during outgoing tides when currents strengthen.
While inland residents can enjoy clear skies and dry heat, coastal visitors should remain cautious in the water. Rip currents can form even when surf appears calm. Always heed local signage and flags posted at beaches.
The rip current risk is expected to persist into the evening. Updates will follow if conditions worsen or if additional advisories are issued.
