Quad Cities, Iowa/Illinois – Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will drench parts of eastern Iowa and western Illinois through Thursday night as a surge of moisture spreads in from the southwest.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, rain chances will increase throughout the day Wednesday, with the heaviest and most widespread precipitation arriving tonight. Thunderstorms could develop during the evening hours, particularly in areas along and east of the Mississippi River. Winds from the southeast will range from 10 to 20 mph, shifting to the northwest on Thursday.

Highs will sit in the mid to upper 60s both today and Thursday, though temperatures may dip slightly north of Highway 30 by Friday as cooler air moves in. Rainfall totals across the region are expected to range from 0.25 to 0.75 inches, with locally higher amounts under heavier bands.

Drivers should prepare for wet roads during commutes, especially in the evening and early Thursday. Residents are encouraged to check local alerts and avoid flooded roads. While no severe weather is expected, isolated thunder could accompany heavier downpours.

Scattered showers may linger into Friday morning before drier conditions return for the weekend.
