Baxley, GA – A flood warning has been extended for the Altamaha River near Baxley, with minor flooding expected over the coming days.

According to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville, FL, the river’s water level was measured at 72.9 feet early Friday morning. Forecasters predict it will exceed the 74.5-foot flood stage by early Sunday and continue rising to approximately 76.7 feet by Wednesday morning. Additional rises remain possible thereafter.

Flooding could impact agricultural and timber lands, with boat ramps and recreational areas such as Deens Landing and Linton Carter Landing becoming submerged. If water levels reach 78 feet, roads including Davis Landing Road, Morris Landing Road, and Getaway Lane at Carters Bight Landing could experience flooding.

Residents in Wayne, Toombs, Tattnall, and Appling counties are urged to monitor conditions and prepare for potential flood-related disruptions. Updates and safety information can be found at National Weather Service.
