Memphis, TN – Several flood warnings remain in effect for rivers in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Missouri as heavy rainfall continues to impact the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, minor to moderate flooding is occurring along the Mississippi River at Osceola and Caruthersville, as well as the Obion River near Bogota and Obion. Additional flooding is affecting the North Fork of the Forked Deer River at Dyersburg and the Right Hand Chute Little River at Rivervale.
Residents in affected areas should remain cautious, particularly in Dyersburg, where floodwaters have begun to surround homes in the southeastern part of the city. In Caruthersville, water levels are expected to crest at 32.5 feet before beginning to recede by Tuesday morning.
Motorists are urged to avoid flooded roadways and heed official detour signs. The NWS emphasizes that most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles attempting to cross water-covered roads.
Floodwaters are projected to subside early next week, but continued monitoring is advised. Additional updates will be provided as necessary.
