Santa Fe, NM — A tragic head-on collision occurred early Saturday morning on Interstate 25, just south of Santa Fe, leaving one man dead and another injured.
According to the New Mexico State Police, the crash happened around 1:00 a.m. near milepost 275. Officers responded to reports of a wrong-way driver traveling south in the northbound lane. The vehicle, a 2014 Nissan driven by 25-year-old Albert Austin James Titla of Santa Fe, collided head-on with a 2007 GMC pickup truck.
Titla suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator. The GMC’s driver, a 39-year-old man, sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital. His condition remains unknown.
Authorities have not yet determined if alcohol played a role in the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and the New Mexico State Police continue to gather details about the incident.
