Dixon, IL – A man was struck and killed by a train early Tuesday morning in rural Lee County. The incident occurred along railroad tracks about a mile west of Wadsworth Way and Railway Road, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the call at 8:10 a.m. and located the man near the tracks. Officials determined he had been hit by a passing train. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The man’s identity has not yet been released, pending notification of the family.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation is ongoing, and no further details are available at this time. The Dixon Rural Fire Department, Dixon City Fire Department, Lee County Coroner’s Office, and Union Pacific Railroad assisted at the scene.
