Peoria, IL – A pedestrian in a wheelchair died after being struck by a vehicle on North University in Peoria.
Peoria police said officers responded at 5:45 p.m. Thursday to the 3400 block of North University. They found a 66-year-old man down in the southbound lane, along with a damaged wheelchair.
The driver, an adult man, remained at the scene and told officers he did not see the victim in time. He was unable to avoid hitting him.
Emergency crews transported the victim to a hospital, where he died from his injuries. The Peoria County Coroner will release his identity.
No arrests were made, and police issued no citations. Authorities are still investigating the accident.
