Ellenburg, NY – A man sustained injuries after being shot while attempting to clear debris from Plank Road near Alder Bend Road on Tuesday. New York State Police in Plattsburgh responded to reports of the incident around 4:34 p.m. in the town of Ellenburg.
Police say the victim, traveling south on Plank Road, stopped his vehicle after noticing debris in the roadway. As he exited to remove it, an unknown individual shot him in the back. Emergency responders transported him to the University of Vermont Medical Center at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital, where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities believe this is an isolated incident. They urge drivers not to attempt removing debris in the area and instead report it to law enforcement.
