EF-2 Tornado Rips Through Ohio Community, Leaving 8 Injured

Frazeysburg, OH – A powerful EF-2 tornado with wind speeds reaching 130 mph struck Frazeysburg early Thursday morning, causing significant damage and leaving eight people injured.

According to the National Weather Service Pittsburgh, the tornado touched down between 12:37 a.m. and 12:40 a.m., carving a brief but destructive 1.25-mile path through the town in Muskingum County. Despite its short duration on the ground, the storm’s maximum width reached 120 yards, causing extensive damage.

Residents awoke to the sound of roaring winds and shattering debris as the tornado tore through homes and buildings. Images from the scene show rooftops ripped off, trees uprooted, and extensive structural damage. Local County Emergency Management reported severe thunderstorms in the area earlier in the morning, setting the stage for the destructive twister.

Emergency responders quickly mobilized to assist the injured and assess the damage. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported. The injured individuals were treated for various injuries, none of which are considered life-threatening. The community is now focused on recovery efforts, with volunteers and local officials working together to clear debris and provide support to affected families.
