Washington – A crisp, quiet start with cool air and clear skies is giving Spokane a brief window of calm before a noticeable spring shift brings rain, thunderstorms, and cooler air by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures climb steadily through Monday and Tuesday, reaching 77 to 78 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Light winds and dry conditions dominate early, offering ideal travel and outdoor conditions across Spokane and along I-90.

That changes late Tuesday. A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms develops after sunset, with the first signs of moisture arriving between 8 p.m. and early overnight hours. Roads may turn slick quickly if brief downpours develop, especially on elevated surfaces.

By Wednesday, the pattern turns more active. Rain chances jump to 80 percent, with periods of steady showers and possible thunderstorms through the day. Expect reduced visibility and wet pavement during the morning and evening commutes. Temperatures fall sharply, with highs dropping to around 58 degrees—nearly a 20-degree swing from earlier warmth.

Heading into Thursday, lingering moisture keeps a 30 percent chance of rain early, with snow levels hovering near 4,300 to 4,900 feet in surrounding higher terrain. While Spokane stays mostly rain, nearby passes could see a mix.

Plan ahead now—keep rain gear ready, allow extra travel time midweek, and watch for quick weather changes after sunset Tuesday.
