Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Temperatures are set to drop rapidly late tonight, bringing a damaging freeze that could impact crops, plumbing, and early Monday travel across eastern Pennsylvania.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a Freeze Warning takes effect at 11 p.m. Sunday and continues until 10 a.m. Monday, with temperatures falling as low as 25 degrees in Carbon and Monroe counties, including Stroudsburg and Jim Thorpe. A broader Freeze Watch remains in place for late Monday night into Tuesday morning, when temperatures could dip to 19 degrees.

Sunday brings scattered showers moving west to east through early afternoon, followed by strengthening northwest winds with gusts between 25 and 35 mph. Roads including I-76, I-78, and the Pennsylvania Turnpike may see brief wet conditions before temperatures fall sharply overnight.

By early Monday, sub-freezing conditions will extend across much of eastern Pennsylvania, with the coldest readings in higher elevations of the Poconos. Sensitive vegetation, early-season crops, and unprotected outdoor plumbing are at risk. Residents should cover plants, disconnect hoses, and protect exposed pipes before midnight.

Cold conditions continue into Tuesday morning, when another freeze may develop. Additional alerts could expand as colder air settles across the region, with the next update expected later today.
