Omaha, Nebraska – Lingering showers and storms will clear out by late morning, but gusty winds developing this afternoon could still impact travel across eastern Nebraska and western Iowa.
According to the National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley, rain will taper off by around 10 a.m., followed by increasing northwest winds that may gust between 25 and 30 mph through the afternoon. These winds could affect driving conditions on major routes including I-80, I-29, and Highway 75, especially for high-profile vehicles.
Cities including Omaha, Lincoln, Council Bluffs, and Fremont will see improving conditions after midday, with highs ranging from 55 to 65 degrees. However, cooler mornings are expected through midweek, with overnight lows dropping between 33 and 40 degrees Tuesday through Friday. Patchy frost is possible, particularly in northern areas where temperatures dip closer to freezing.
Additional rain chances return Tuesday (20%–40%) and again Thursday (15%–20%), though much of the week will remain dry with partly cloudy skies. Morning commutes could be briefly impacted by light showers on those days.
Residents should use caution in gusty winds this afternoon, secure loose outdoor items, and prepare for chilly mornings by protecting sensitive plants. Conditions remain mild but cool through the weekend, with the next update expected within 24 hours.
