Early Morning Fire Renders Lockport Township Home Unlivable, Cause Under Investigation

Lockport Township, IL – A fire in unincorporated Lockport Township severely damaged a two-story home early Monday morning.

The Lockport Township Fire Protection District responded at 1:59 a.m. to the fire on the 200 block of Weslevan Street. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the home. They began an aggressive attack with multiple hose lines.

According to the Lockport Township Fire Protection District, the fire started in the back wall and spread into the attic. Firefighters worked for nearly three hours to bring the blaze under control.

The occupant woke to the smell of smoke and safely evacuated before fire crews arrived. No injuries were reported, but the house was deemed uninhabitable.
