Elmhurst, IL – A series of fast-moving overnight burglaries shook Elmhurst early Tuesday as suspects targeted a local shopping center.
According to the Elmhurst Police Department, officers responded to the intersection of York Street and Butterfield Road at 2:26 a.m. on April 1 after a burglar alarm was triggered. Police discovered smashed glass doors at four businesses and evidence of attempted entry at a fifth. Authorities say the entire spree lasted just five minutes.

Authorities also noted similar burglaries during the same time frame in nearby communities, including Berkeley, Lombard, Oakbrook Terrace, and Forest Park. Investigations across jurisdictions are being coordinated.
Elmhurst Police urge anyone with information to call (630) 530-3050. Business owners in the area are advised to review their security systems and remain vigilant during overnight hours.
No injuries were reported during the incidents. Police have not disclosed what, if anything, was taken from the businesses involved.
