Cincinnati, OH – Heavy rain will begin across the Ohio Valley on Wednesday night, with repeated downpours expected to continue through the weekend, raising serious concerns about widespread flooding.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service Ohio River Forecast Center, a stalled frontal boundary will bring multiple rounds of rain from southwest to northeast, repeatedly targeting the same areas. Rainfall totals between 2 and 13 inches are forecast, with the highest amounts concentrated in the southwestern basin of the Ohio Valley, including parts of Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee.

Officials warn of a WIDESPREAD, HIGH IMPACT EVENT, as at least 50% of river forecast points in the region show a chance for major flooding through April 11. Cities like Cincinnati, Louisville, and Evansville are likely to see significant river level rises, potentially impacting roads, homes, and infrastructure.

Residents are urged to monitor flood alerts, avoid travel in flooded areas, and secure property near low-lying locations. With the ground already saturated from recent storms, runoff could quickly overwhelm rivers and streams.

The National Weather Service plans to issue additional briefings as the storm system evolves. Emergency managers recommend reviewing evacuation plans and staying informed via official channels.
