Dorchester County, SC – Additional criminal charges have been filed against a suspect connected to a shooting investigation in the Drakesborough subdivision, according to the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials said Jayden Britt appeared in court Friday for a bond hearing related to the shooting incident on Eider Down Drive in Drakesborough.
According to investigators, Britt now faces two additional counts of assault and battery in the first degree, in addition to two existing counts of discharging a firearm into a dwelling. Authorities also added two counts of malicious damage to personal property valued at more than $2,000.
The court issued Britt a $500,000 cash/surety bond.
Members of the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office Command Staff and Criminal Investigations Division attended the hearing as the investigation continues.
Sheriff Sam Richardson released a statement following the court proceedings, saying the suspect allegedly acted “with complete disregard for the safety of the citizens of Dorchester County.”
Richardson also stated investigators have worked extensively to build the case and will continue coordinating with prosecutors to pursue justice.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding injuries, the circumstances leading up to the shooting, or the number of victims involved in the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges could be possible as detectives continue reviewing evidence connected to the case.
All suspects and defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
