Sturgeon Bay, WI – Residents across Door County are encouraged to safely dispose of unused or expired medications during Drug Take Back Day events this Saturday.

According to local officials, several collection sites will be open from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, offering a convenient way for community members to remove potentially dangerous medications from their homes.

Drop-off locations include the Brussels-Union-Gardner (BUG) Fire Department in Brussels, the Sister Bay Fire Station, and the Door County Sheriff’s Office. Officials say the initiative is aimed at reducing the risk of prescription drug misuse and preventing medications from being improperly discarded.

The event is part of a broader statewide and national effort to address opioid misuse and promote safe medication practices. Residents can bring unused prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, and other pharmaceutical items for proper disposal.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, drug take-back programs play a key role in preventing accidental ingestion, misuse, and environmental harm caused by flushing or throwing medications in the trash.

No appointments are required, and the service is free to the public. Officials encourage residents to take a few minutes to check medicine cabinets and participate.

Additional information and a full list of collection sites statewide are available through the Wisconsin DHS website.
