Dixon, IL – Lee County Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Methamphetamine Distribution

Dixon, IL – A Lee County man has been sentenced to 10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to multiple charges in a significant methamphetamine distribution case.

James L. Ballard, 47, was arrested following a search warrant executed on June 30, 2024, at his residence on 320 S. Canal Drive in rural Dixon. The investigation, led by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office in collaboration with the Illinois State Police Blackhawk Area Task Force, resulted in charges related to the possession and distribution of methamphetamine.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Ballard was charged with delivering over 100 grams of methamphetamine, as well as other related offenses. On April 3, 2025, Ballard pleaded guilty to one count of Methamphetamine Delivery 15<100 grams, a Class X felony. In addition to the 10-year sentence, Ballard’s case is part of ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to curb narcotics trafficking in the area.

The investigation and subsequent arrest highlight the continuous commitment of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and its partners in addressing narcotics-related crimes. Informants can remain anonymous and may receive rewards of up to $1,000 if their tips lead to an arrest.
