Detroit, MI – Authorities in Detroit seized a large cache of illegal 3D-printed gun parts, ammunition, and firearms on Wednesday in a coordinated raid with Homeland Security Investigations.
According to the Detroit Police Department, the Gang Intel Unit executed a search warrant on the 20100 block of Anglin St. Officers discovered 3D printers, a drill press, and multiple firearms assembled from 3D-printed parts. Ammunition and other firearm-related materials were also confiscated. A juvenile suspect was arrested at the scene.
Police emphasized that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle illegal firearm manufacturing operations. The juvenile was taken into custody for questioning, though authorities have not disclosed the charges.
This raid highlights a growing trend of illegal 3D-printed firearms, which are difficult to trace and increasingly used in criminal activities. Detroit police credited their collaboration with federal agencies for the successful raid.
