Denver, CO – Colorado is bracing for a record-breaking heatwave this weekend, with temperatures forecasted to soar above 100 degrees across the urban corridor and plains. The National Weather Service in Denver/Boulder issued a heat advisory, warning residents to plan outdoor activities during the cooler parts of the day and to stay hydrated.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are expected to peak between 100-105 degrees from Saturday through Monday. The hottest spots include Fort Collins, Greeley, and Julesburg, where highs could reach up to 104 degrees. Slightly cooler temperatures are predicted at higher elevations, though still in the 90s.

The heatwave is forecasted to bring some relief by Tuesday, with temperatures dropping to the upper 80s and lower 90s. By Wednesday, a more significant cool-down is expected, with highs in the low 80s. Despite the heat, air quality remains moderate, but residents are advised to limit strenuous outdoor activities.

With such extreme heat, it’s crucial to take precautions. Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, drink plenty of water, and take frequent breaks if you must be outside. Ensure pets and vulnerable individuals are kept cool and hydrated. This heatwave serves as a stark reminder of the importance of heat safety measures during the summer months.
