Chicago, IL – Motorists in northern Illinois and northwestern Indiana are urged to exercise caution Thursday morning as patchy dense fog blankets the region, reducing visibility in several areas.
According to the National Weather Service, fog has been reported near and north of the I-88 corridor in Illinois and across parts of northern Indiana, particularly north of Highway 30. Visibility in some locations may drop below a quarter of a mile, creating hazardous travel conditions. Officials expect improvement by mid-morning but advise drivers to slow down, use low beam headlights, and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.
