Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Rain moves in by midday Sunday across the Delaware Valley, followed by a sharp temperature drop that could bring frost and near-freezing conditions by early Tuesday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a cold front will push through Sunday, delivering between 0.1 and 0.5 inches of rainfall across eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware, with locally higher totals possible. Temperatures will slide below seasonal averages starting Sunday night and remain cool into early next week.
Philadelphia, Allentown, and Reading will see highs fall from the upper 60s Saturday into the 50s by Monday, while overnight lows dip into the 30s. In South Jersey, including Trenton and Toms River, similar cooling trends will follow the rain, with clear skies increasing the risk of frost by Monday and especially Tuesday morning.
Gardeners and growers should prepare to protect sensitive plants, while commuters should plan for wet roads during the Sunday midday and evening travel windows. Cooler air lingers through Tuesday before a gradual warm-up begins midweek, with additional advisories possible if frost conditions intensify.
