Delaware Police Arrest Man on DUI Charges After Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash in Glasgow

Newark, DE – A 28-year-old man has been arrested following a fatal crash Tuesday night in Glasgow, Delaware, that left one man dead and a teenager injured.

The Delaware State Police identified Fidel Villatoro-Martinez of Newark as the driver of a 2004 Chevrolet Express involved in the two-vehicle collision. The crash occurred at approximately 10:39 p.m. on January 21 at the intersection of Pulaski Highway and DE-896. Preliminary investigations revealed Villatoro-Martinez ran a red light, striking a 2019 Dodge Ram traveling through the intersection.

According to police, the Dodge’s driver, 51-year-old David Funk of Centreville, Maryland, was critically injured and later died on January 22. A 16-year-old passenger in Funk’s vehicle was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Troopers reported detecting alcohol on Villatoro-Martinez’s breath and found alcoholic beverage containers in his vehicle. Villatoro-Martinez was charged with several offenses, including first-degree vehicular assault, second-degree vehicular assault, and driving under the influence. He is being held on a $3,500 secured bond.
