Dearborn County, IN – A county-wide burn ban is now in effect for Dearborn County due to ongoing drought-like conditions. The ban, which will remain in place until rescinded, was enacted by the Dearborn County Board of Commissioners following continued high temperatures and lack of rainfall.
According to the board, local fire chiefs overwhelmingly supported the ban, citing the high risk of fires caused by dried vegetation. The ban prohibits campfires, open burning, and the use of fireworks, among other activities.
Violators may face fines ranging from $200 to $1,000.
