Danville, IL Police Arrest Teen After Shots Fired on Martin Street

Danville, IL – A 19-year-old man was arrested Sunday evening following a shooting incident on Martin Street, police said.

Danville Police responded around 4:30 p.m. to reports of gunfire in the 900 block of Martin Street. Witnesses reported seeing individuals running from the area after shots were fired.

According to Danville Police, officers, with help from the community and favorable weather conditions, tracked a suspect to a residence within two blocks of the scene. With the assistance of the Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office, officers obtained a search warrant for the residence.

Police arrested Alvin L. Daniels, 19, of Danville at the location and recovered a firearm. Daniels was booked at the Vermilion County Public Safety Building on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated discharge of a firearm, and obstructing a peace officer.

Authorities emphasize that charges are allegations, and all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
