Albany, NY – A winter storm will hit the Albany area Friday, bringing snow, freezing rain, and icy roads that could disrupt morning and evening travel.

According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 p.m. Thursday, with snow and sleet accumulation of up to two inches. As temperatures drop overnight, roads could become slick, making for a hazardous Friday morning commute.

Friday’s high will be near 28°F, with northwest winds gusting up to 31 mph. By Saturday, another storm system is expected, bringing heavy snow in the morningbefore transitioning to freezing rain overnight. Icy conditions will persist into Sunday, with a wintry mix and a high of 39°F.

Officials urge drivers to slow down and use caution, especially on bridges and untreated roads. Pedestrians should watch for icy sidewalks and slippery steps.

If traveling for Valentine’s Day plans, check road conditions and allow extra time. The winter storm could cause delays and hazardous conditions throughout the weekend.
