Wakefield, VA – Excessive Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories have been issued for the entire Wakefield area on Friday, with heat indices expected to reach between 105°F and 110°F. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns residents to prepare for extreme heat conditions.
According to the NWS Wakefield office, the warnings are in effect from 11 AM to 8 PM Friday. The heat indices could peak at 108°F to 112°F east of I-95 and 105°F to 109°F west of I-95. Residents are urged to take necessary precautions to stay safe during the heatwave.
“The hottest temperatures will be across southeast portions of the area,” the NWS stated. Officials recommend staying hydrated, avoiding strenuous activities, and checking on vulnerable populations such as the elderly and young children.
This dangerous heatwave is expected to continue into Saturday, with the hottest temperatures anticipated in the southeast regions. Public health officials advise staying indoors during peak heat hours and utilizing air conditioning if possible.
