Fort Worth, Texas – A sharp temperature drop and rounds of rain could disrupt travel across North and Central Texas starting Friday afternoon as a cold front pushes through the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, quiet and warm conditions Thursday will give way to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms beginning Friday and continuing into Saturday. High temperatures in North Texas will fall from the upper 80s Thursday to near 70 degrees by Saturday, with overnight lows dipping into the 40s and 50s.

The Dallas-Fort Worth area, including major routes like Interstate 35 and Interstate 20, could see wet roads and reduced visibility during periods of rain Friday afternoon through Saturday morning. While storms are expected to remain scattered, brief downpours and lightning could still impact commutes and outdoor plans.

In Central Texas, including Waco and surrounding areas, storm chances increase Saturday with highs dropping into the low 70s. Conditions begin to stabilize Sunday, though cooler-than-average temperatures will persist into early next week.

Residents should plan for changing conditions, keep devices charged, and allow extra travel time during rain periods. Additional updates are possible as the cold front timing becomes more precise.

Five Day Forecast for Fort Worth, Texas:

  • Thursday: Partly cloudy, high 87°F, low 67°F
