Joliet, IL – Joliet police arrested Marcus Gilbert, 19, of Crest Hill, for attempted murder on September 10. Gilbert was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated battery, and two counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm. He is currently held at the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
According to Joliet Police, Gilbert was identified as a suspect in a shooting that took place on August 28, near the Western Food Mart on Western Avenue. An arrest warrant was issued for Gilbert on September 3. Authorities took him into custody in Bolingbrook, with help from the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Fugitive Task Force.
The shooting left two teenage boys injured. A 17-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to his calf, while a 15-year-old was shot in the buttocks. Both were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
