Grant Park, IL – A couple changing a flat tire on a rural Will County road was robbed at gunpoint Thursday night, prompting a multi-agency police search for the suspects.
According to the Will County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 9:34 p.m. on E 12000N Road near S. Kedzie Avenue. A Peotone family had pulled over when a dark-colored SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Suburban or Tahoe, stopped nearby. Three armed suspects, described as Black males over six feet tall with beards, approached the victims.
Two suspects exited their vehicle with firearms, demanding valuables. The male driver handed over his wallet, while his wife surrendered cash. A third suspect opened the back passenger door, pointing a gun at an adult female and her infant before stealing a diaper bag containing her wallet. The suspects then fled.
Emergency responders evaluated the victims, who were shaken but uninjured. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage from area roadways and businesses. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Will County Sheriff’s Office at 815-727-8575.
